Throttle body vacuum leak help
Just did a smoke test on my uncle's 1999 RX300 and the leak comes from the throttle body where the spring is for the shaft. It keeps getting a P0171 lean code and it's annoying as hell. I tried looking for a new throttle body and I can't find any, and I don't wanna try my luck with a used one as this is a common problem from what I've been told. Is there anyway to change the seal in the throttle body shaft?

No, it's leaking from the throttle plate shaft, where the spring is. I don't see anyone that sells it so I probably have to buy a used throttle body. I would need a rebuild kit to change the seals and stuff on the throttle body. I'm trying to see if I can get just the throttle body with the spring, since that's where the smoke came out of. The part # is22283-20130 which according to the dealer is going to cost $258. Jafromobile shows what seals I'm talking about, except not on a Lexus RX300.

Ok I fixed the problem and it was a couple of things. It was leaking from the throttle body pretty badly and I bought a junkyard one for $100. Not exactly the best of condition but it leaks far less than the original, so I'm happy with that. Also my Denso O2 sensor was fake it turns out as I ordered the same sensor for the bank 2 front of engine and the exact problem started happening, but by installing the original the problem went away. Spent $130 on RockAuto for a proper Denso and in the middle of returning the fakes, though the seller is upset that I left a bad review on Ebay. Just a warning to anyone thinking of buying a Denso off Ebay to save money. Don't, it'll cause the bank to run lean and cause a P0171. If you have a p0171 then get a smoke test and look at the throttle body. I made a video to help people out.

The picture of the sensor on the densoautoparts.com site looks like the one you got from rock auto

Yep and so far everything works fine. The fuel trims seem to move correctly for both bank 1 and bank 2 where as before bank 1 would be all over the place where bank 2 stayed more steady. Definitely fake as hell. I never heard of densoautoparts but I'll definitely book mark it for easy shopping. I paid $130 for mine so it seems I still got the best deal.

Hi I have 2000 RX300 - are you saying that you get the P0171 with the Bank 2 Senor being bad or changed too. I thought that Code is only for Bank 1
I got the P0171 and changed the Bank 1 Sensor in the rear with a Ebay Sensor. Have run car have St Trim +19,5% and Lt Trim 52.5%
If I hit accelerator St Trim goes to 0% ,Then goes back to 19% - have done smoke tests all over and do not find any leaks or any other issues to cause this code.
Will go and get a another sensor tomorrow - Bank 2 Trims run find. - any other Thoughts??
