Cool Transmission replacement requires ECU replacement

Transmission issues have now led to the choice of rebuilding or replacing transmission. I have been told that if we replace transmission we will also have to replace computer as Lexus is unable to flash over this years model. Is this true?

My 2000 transmission was replaced with a re-manufactured one without computer replacement.

Well, they have to talk to each other, you know. Besides, there is Transmission Control Module. I'd talk to an indy guy... see what they can do.

Not true. You just have to reset the learned values for the transmission in the ecu. This requires either Techstream or a good diagnostic tool.

I have taken my transmission out twice for maintenance and modification (to make it stronger) and neither time did I have to do anything with the ECU.

I replaced a transmission 8 years ago. They did the job, but there was still shifting problem. They asked me to go to Lexus dealer to reset the ECU by their tools (unable to do that by disconnecting battery). I brought my car to the dealer, paid $150, they reset the ECU by their tools, then everything went fine.
