Default Broken rear diff, other damage?

Hey all,

i know this isnt my usual place, but I am looking into an RX. It has, per the seller, a broken rear diff. he said it made a noise, now its locked and bangs if you try to move it. I saw an RX in the junkyard recently and can grab that diff for cheap, and I imagine all thats stopping it from dropping out besides the mounting bolts is the rear axles, so a quick disconnection of struts/control arms in the back and I should be home free... my question is, if this guy tried driving the car like that, could much else be damaged? AWD is not something i am familiar with... if the transfer to the rear is anything other than an open diff (which I am sure it is), i can imagine possible damage. Please let me know.

Thanks

drew
