RX300 Belt squeals if started with AC on
So I have the squealing alternation belt problem when I start the engine with the AC engaged it will squeal for 10 seconds or so. I have already broken one adjuster bolt from tightening it and the belt seams tight. It is an after market belt I know some folk's recommend OEM belts. Could this be a bearing in the AC compressor and if so are they replaceable (just the bearing)?
Thanks, Chet

If the tension is right, you may like to replace the belt, specially if it is squealing and has not been replaced in about 3yrs/36000miles.
One can do ***** nilly tension adjustment, but the proper way is with a belt tension gauge. Doing the proper way will ensure the belt is not loose and not overnight that it destroys the bearings. If yo search you will come across the half twist method and the tension measurement method. New OEM belt goes on at higher tension and after use the there is another spec.
You can safely go with nonOEM, but I am not sure what the the initial tension will be. After use the tension should be the same.

Look down...make sure the belt is square to all pulleys(Making no pulleys are walking etc). If belt is more than a year or so old, change it. I always liked the gatorback belts(Not even sure if they make them anymore) but they always did really well to stop squealing.
