No security light
Still haven't given up.
One thing I can't seem to understand is why the security light is not working at all. It doesn't come on at all anymore. It used to, but nothing I've tried has made this light flash once.
My master key, transponder key and valet key all work. The remote locks and unlocks the car, can roll down the windows, sunroof etc. but the security light is just non existent.
Is there a bulb for this? Or maybe a fuse? I can't find any info...
Thanks!

No one wants to invent an answer, maybe.

So there seems to actually BE a security issue on the car.
I reprogrammed the key fob, security light comes on when alarm is pressed, but doesn't flash when I lock the car.

Thank you for this diagnostic sketch!
So the light doesn't blink AT ALL anymore, it used to.
But the light does work, I pressed the alarm button on the key fob today and the horn rang and the red light flashed, so I know the light works, but it doesn't flash when lock or unlock with key or with fob. And if I lock with key fob and reach inside door to unlock, the alarm doesn't go off.
Also noticed the door lock unlock seems sluggish, and is sometimes locking passenger doors, most times not, you have to do it manually

I got my car sounds mixed up between my various makes and models. But it seems like you have the proper locking response from the fob.
So is the only problem the security light being out, or is there also some other issue with the way the alarm system is working?
If it is only a burned out light, this appears to be the part number: 81850-33020
There is a used one on ebay for $6 shipped
http://www.ebay.com/itm/1999-2003-Le...-/152145686689
New one online is about $30+ shipping.

As of yesterday, and more work and diagnosing, I have seen the light come on, so I know the light is functional.
Since I couldn't find any reasonable answers to the issue I had moved on to other things on the car. Recently I posted a sale sign on it locally and a neighbor has been trying to figure it out because he wants to buy it. So I am now back at square 1, thinking the no start is actually an immobiliser issue.
Does that answer your confusion?

Not sure if this is relevant, but might help if it's immobilizer related that's causing your car to not start.
A couple years ago while I was doing some work behind the kick panel under the steer wheel, I removed the pieces around the ignition for access. Specifically, I had the black ring out. Couldn't start the car without it. It'll crank and crank, but no fire. Apparently that's what reads the RFID chip in your key.
Maybe check the wiring around there.

Great advice! Will do! I'll post an update as soon as I check it out!
