I'm going tomorrow to check this 2001 RX300 with just 80k miles.
After reading the whole weekend about all sorts of things related to RX300 the possibility of the car to turn out to be an oil user scares me.
I can live with excessive oil consumption caused by the older rear valve cover design or clogged PCV valve or such that can be repaired but I cannot live with the possible piston ring problem Toyota seemed to suffer from in late 90s early 00s.
My question is: have there been piston ring related problems with 1MZ-FE engines?
Went for a test drive today and was positively surprised. The car had the newer rear valve cover so that should take care of oil usage problems. Tyres were Yokohamas from 2008 and way too hard and coarse for this sort of a luxury car - tyres were main reason why we could not (yet) agree on the price so will just have to let it rest for a while.
I am curious what the cost is for a 15 year old RX with 80k miles in Finland. In the US the car is probably worth $6-$8k depending on condition and features.

Reason: update to higher value given the lower mileage
