Default Part Nmber for the VVT - Filter Retaining Bolt

While replacing the rear bank vvt, l unscrewed the 14mm filter retaining bolt and pulled out filter to clean with WD-40. Wound up losing the 14mm filter retaining bolt. My Lexus dealer was trying to sell me a union bolt which is not what I need. Anyone know the official name of this bolt or the part number? Can't find anything on it online either. PLEASE HELP!

you could try taking your front bank VVT bolt to a hardware store to match the metric threads and length.

Otherwise, call other area Lexus parts counters in your area. Some bored parts counter guy is bound to point you in the right direction.

If my memory serves me right, it is not a straight bolt. It has a recess to hold the conical head (narrow diameter) of the filter. I did not pay attention and crushed the filter ... had to buy a new one.

We used to have parts on line through Seewel Lexus. You may have to search Lexus of Atlanta's catalog on line.

So the bolt does look like a banjo bolt. I do not recall a hole on the side.

I never leave anything in the bay. Try retrieving with magnet recovery tool. It looks like a collapsed antenna. Do not buy one with a strong magnet. You want it strong enough to lift the weight of the lost bolt. Anything stronger will keep deflecting to the side.

Good call, I haven't had to change one yet. This is a case where its not worth to crimp on substituting with a standard fastener.

Kudos to mroxas to identifying the exact part number
