Default Lexus Bumper Protector

I have a 99 RX that recently has the victim of a bumper tap by an unknown perp. The bumper itself survived the incident but it must have compressed and when it came back some of the paint on the top of the bumper cracked horizontally. I noticed that the RX's 2001 and later have a plastic bumper protector with the Lexus logo on it. I got a quote on buying one. But does anyone know if this will fit a 99 and how it attaches? Is it done by an adhesive?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

thanks

Jason

I believe it is an adhesive pad that is applied to the bumper after it has been installed.

In any case you can buy one here:

As a cautionary measure you might want to have that bumper and components checked out by the dealership or bodyshop for any damage behind the bumper. Though the bumper protector will hide the cosmetic flaw - it definitely won't do anything in a later accident if the safety aspect of the bumper has been compromised.

All that aside, the bumper protector is really is to put on like you said with adhesive tape. Just be sure to center it since that's the really tough part. Took me about 15 minutes to put one of mine for little nicks on top of my bumper from my dog's paws.

I have a 99 RX and I added the bumper protector as one of the first things on my ride. It is all adhesive and it sticks right on. Very easy.

If you don't like the Lexus advertising Logo on the bumper protector, take a look at the Toyota Sienna (not the new version). It's bumper protector is generic and will fit the RX300. Only difference is that Toyota's does not wrap around slightly on the vertical part of the bumper.

I priced the Lexus version out to be around $82. The Sienna version is only $32. Just an FYI

I have the rear bumper protector on my RX too. I paid about $80 and it's a no-brainer to install. Wouldn't be without it!
