P0770 Shift Solenoid E Malfunction
Good evening,
Seems that I have a problem at hand (2000 Rx 300, 104000 miles) and I see that this has been discussed but most of the people seems to be heading straight to do a transmission replacement. Code I got is: P0770 -----Shift Solenoid E Malfunction I had two incidents when this won't move when put on reverse, tugged it to park , then to drive and then to reverse and then with a jerk reverse worked. I started paying attention, now while driving when it is just above to cross 20 m/p/h a small hesitation to shift up, rpm goes up, then with a small thud it shifts, after this when about to cross 60 m/p/h same thing happens. I recently replaced all four tires and did the timing belt replacement with all parts replaced. Now I have this, with every oil change I used to drain the tranny and filled it up with Toyota ATF; seems that after all it was just a waste of money. If I do a complete solenoid replacement (5 of them) , its going to cost me: $921.98 + shipping. (price is from (lexuspartsnow.com) Part No. Description Qty. Unit 35330-06010 STRAINER ASSY, OIL -------------$39.10 35168-21011 GASKET, TRANSAXLE OI --------$10.40 35240-21010 SOLENOID ASSY, TRANS ------$223.29 35210-21010 SOLENOID ASSY, CLUTC ------$139.23 35220-21010 SOLENOID ASSY, CLUTC-------$139.23 35290-21010 SOLENOID ASSY, LINE ---------$147.44 35230-21010 SOLENOID ASSY, TRANS -------$223.29 Subtotal: -----------------------------$921.98 I'm planning to drop the tranny pan, any tips on getting to the five solenoids and testing them. I need some help here to get to it and to ID the solenoid. From this thread (https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...0770-code.html) Lexmex indicates that the other reason could be "the valve body could be clogged" or "the torque converter clutch" Anyone who have had this problem fixed without the tranny replaced. Thank you. |

Do you have access to a scan tool? A real scan tool, not the $99 ones from auto zone? If you do you should be able to go into the data stream in the transmission DTC and get the voltage and position. You may also be able to cycle them depending on how advanced your tool is. I have an OTC Genisys EVO and I don't think I can cycle them manually with mine.
I'm no longer driving this. |
Bumping up... Anyone with an idea to get to the shift solenoid, and how to ID which of the five solonoid is solonoid E?
In the RX dx manual it is listed as Solenoid DSL. |
