Has your RX behaved this way from day 1 or there was some event (repair etc) and since that day it is behaving this way?
What is your point of comparison? It can be by itself based on expectations or even based on my previous question.
Does any warning light light up?

it was my grandfathers that sold it to my dad who just sold it to me. i know all of them have been putting 87 octain in it. it has 155k miles. its just so slow to me comparing it to my dodge grand caravan with 10 less horses and 200lbs extra. the van could do 60 in 7 or 8 and it would smoke its tires all the way to 40. ive tried everything but neutral drop to get it quicker. (O/D on and off) (pwr mode) (break launch) and it still fells slower than most cars at the trafficlight

Might be time for a tune up. Also try cleaning the mass air flow meter, DEFINITELY clean the air intake, clean the idle control valve, start using Premium fuel and then clear the ecm. I dont care what the 87 octane people babble on here, these motors run their best on 91 octane or higher. I hope your Cat`s arent getting blocked. And new Spark Plugs may be in order as well. Along with aif filter etc. Heck, maybe your fuel pressure is low, might want to check that too.

So do the maint people mentioned here, but at the end RX will be RX. You can compare the specs 0-60 etc with other vehicles. But please do not stress the transmission. I can make my fronts (FWD) chirp but can never make them smoke as traction control kicks in. RX is mostly for style and comfort and it will fall short if you want speed out of it. My kids borrow mine to haul stuff, but it is not their vehicle of choice
When you read specs, keep in mind the spec are more idealistic and with 150K miles on odo, the engine is no longer young. Your tires may be a contributing factor, specially if the vehicle has been used in economy mode.

Incase anyone has notifications--this was happening to me 2 weeks ago.
Fast forward to today, CEL came on on highway and after reading while car is being diagnosed, I've come to the conclusion that if you have not done the recommended yet (i see this is an aged post), do it, because I'm about to (probably) have to replace all of the above mentions.

The RX actually has good low-end torque off the line. At the stoplights i'm always the first to take off even if trying to drive like an old man.
Yours probably need tuning that's all.

Know it's late, but for the OP, 1/2 second is not that much, but if it bothers you you may check your throttle cable for loosness, it may have stretched over time. As far as off the line speed. I switch OD off, but then back on as soon as I reach cruising speed. Also use high octane gas it likes it better, and is less expensive than replacing the knock sensor.

first SUV Ive owned, but i would say pretty good low end torque under 3000k rpm.. Usually first off the line at lights not even pushing it... But from a performance stand point I think this would be its best spot... It falls short in the midrange 30-80 mph, like getting onto the highways IMO..
