....with my sunglasses on. Any suggestions other than the obvious....like not wearing my sungugs? Anything out there that will brighten up the display? Can't really change my glasses as they are magnetically attached and matched to my prescriptions.....$125 a copy.

I know it's a dumb question, and I don't mean to insult you but have you turned the brightness up to full on the screen?

 

Polarized glasses can interfere with the visibility of LCD screens.

You can run a controlled experiment in a covered garage, with and without the add on sun-blocker. Or try a non-polarized blockers.

Salim, I guess you mean the glasses when you refer to sun-blocker. The display is bright under all circumstances other than the glasses.....which are no longer available from the mfg., so cannot get unpolarized versions. I suppose I can just live with it. Thanks anyway.

 

hmm prolly connection loose problem? or might have to replace with new one. Just remove the whole unit if you can to inspect the connections or to check the back side of it.
or just head to scrapyard!!!!..

I know you cant do this while driving, but try to tilt your head and see if the display becomes brighter.

If it does, then unfortunately the answer we have is what you did not want to hear .. change the glasses. If you must wear polarized glasses, see if they can make you a pair with altered axis.

My issue is with the display visibility when the headlights are on during the day (with sunglasses on). I have the brightness set for night driving, and can't see the display when I have to (by law) turn on the headlights during the day [for driving with the windshield wipers on, or in construction zones in PA]. I know I could crank the brightness up, but too much effort.

I'd be curious if newer models of Lexus have an easier solution to this issue.

 

Not answering your question here, but dont the DRL count for headlights on?

-->so headlights are on during the day and the screen brightness is set to night driving.??? that doesn't make any sense. you are driving in the day so why would you have it @ night mode. Offcourse you wont see anything.
-->by law turn on headlights? hmm i dont think so by law as long as you have DRL you dont need to turn on main headlights. unless you are living in Sweden

 

nope DRL is separate from headlights.

 

It's an NJ state law, to have the headlight on if the wipers are on. DRL's do not count, at least not in NJ it may vary.

 

Clarification is lighted lamps, and mot the headlamps. DRL can be counted as headlamps, but not "lighted lamps" as the tail light only comes on when "lighted lamps" are turned on.
