Is this a newer re-engineered valve cover?
I have this type of PCV valve on my 2001. I changed it twice. Once with a NAPA PCV valve and the second time with a Toyota PCV valve. It did not make any difference in my oil consumption. I lost my #2 cylinder recently on a trip. Completely oil fouled. It's in the shop now and I am waiting for the verdict.
Before I took it to the shop, I found the hose that goes from the air cleaner to the front valve cover was completely clogged. It was suggested in another post that a clogged PCV system inlet hose could contribute to the oil consumption problem. I was traveling so I didn't check it, just kept adding oil every time I got fuel. I don't know if this was the problem but now it's in the shop!!
Good Luck in finding your problem.
