RX 300 2003 vs 330?
I will be purchasing the RX300 in the next day or so. I have been browsing the net looking for all sorts of info, + or - on it. Personally the RX300 suits me perfectly, much more than the MDX or any other SUV. My biggest dilemma was whether to wait for the 330 next spring. After having seen the pictures, I have to say that I am a little disappointed with the look. It looks more like a stationwagon than an SUV. However, I am sure that Lexus has upgraded most of the features.
I'm in Canada and our options as far as the selection of features and colours are severely limited compared to those available in the US. I am not able to upgrade the stereo to a Mark-Levinson, or chose more than 3 colours in the coach editions. There is no GPS available. Count yourselves lucky!
I am very pleased with all the RX300 has to offer except for the CD system. I do not need a powerful machine but one that is comfortable to drive in that will provide more space than the standard car, used only in the city. Thats why I chose the RX300. My partner has a Cadillac Escalade and it is an awesome machine. Different class, different price. I was very keen on the Acura MDX (I own an Acura car presently), and I read about all the wonderful features of the MDX, and how it is a much better vehicle etc etc. My first test drive experience was that of disappointment. I found the interior chintzy and basic, nothing luxurious to it. Funny, I almost bought it because I needed a bigger vehicle than my present sedan, but at the last minute, I decided to try the Lexus, and guess what? I am utterly pleased with what I have seen so far. The dealer is letting me have the car for the day to get a good feel, and it looks like I will be getting it!!
If the stereo is all I am complaining about, it is really nothing much.
I hope that Lexus does not compromise the 330 too much.

Yeowww,
Welcome to ClubLexus. Mark Levinson is not available in any RX 300 vehicle in the US and we only had 3 coach colors to choose from, as well. We do have the NAV (GPS), though.
I enjoy the Lexus Premium Audio in my RX. Loud or soft, it's got a great sound. I had some issues with door panels buzzing, but the dealer has handled it well and I have one last door to insulate. No problem.
You'll thoroughly enjoy your RX 300.

i'm kind of in the same situation. was trying to decide between the mdx and rx300. i was really impressed with the smooth and quiet ride of the rx300. it's peppy and maneuvers nicely.
but the wife won out and we're probably going with the mdx. although it's not final quite yet. still have time to convince her.

Guys, I was in the same situation also. I had an MDX on order the summer before they came out. When they came out in November, I test drove it and was not as excited as I hoped to be. I had owned a Legend before and loved it. Then the following summer, I visited my sister and got to drive her 2000 RX300 for a week. I loved it. Since we already had a Ford Expedition with a 3rd row seat for the kids, I didn't mind not having one in the RX. I bought a 2002 RX a year ago with the Nav and the HID's. It's been a great vehicle so far. It's just the right size. My olnly gripe is the turning radius, which believe it or not is worse than the Expedition. Could it use the 240hp engine (260hp now) that the MDX has??....sure, but overall I'm still very happy. I also love the fact that my local Lexus dealer provides a free hand wash every Saturday (comes in handy with the midwest snow/salt).
Also had the MDX ordered but due to all the bad transmission reports, ordered the RX330. Have had the RX300 since 99 with no problems. Have owned five other lexus since 1990 and have been troublefree. The MDX was coming out with the larger engine and the larger inside area is why I ordered one. Does anyone know if the target date is still April? Thanks TJ
