Default Help with RX 300 Check Engine codes

1999 RX 300 with 175,000 miles. Timing belt and water pump were replaced within 3,000 miles.

Latest codes are:

today:
P1354 Variable Valve Timing
G0300 General Misfire
G0304 Misfire on 4
G0306 Misfire on 6

last week:

P1354 Variable Valve Timing (same code as last 2 times brought in)
P1153 A/F Sensor Circuit Response Malfunction Bank 2 Sensor 2

No money due to the economy to buy a new car or SUV at this time. So I will have to do my best to make my Lexus last a couple more years. Any suggestions?

Who replaced the timing belt? Did your problems start after timing belt change? Was the idller replaced/examined.

The variable timing engine t-belt replacement needs special care.

I would start by opening the belt covers and verify the timing is indeed correct.

Make sure timing is not off. If not, the VVT actuator is probably bad. As for the A/F sensor, it's time for new one. It's common on those to go bad.
