RX300 ABS Issue - When starting from a stop
I have an RX300 with 229,000 miles - AWD. I got it from a relative who didn't necessarily notice when something isn't working correctly.
When I start moving after a stop I sometimes feel the ABS engage and the light flashes on the dash. It is very noticeable because the front of the car dips from the brakes kicking in and I can hear the ABS make a strange noise. It happens maybe 3-4 times a day and I drive an average of 50 miles to and from work with a lot of stop and go traffic during rush hour. It has happened ever since I got the car in December 2011, however, I figure it was happening long before that. The front left tire was hit in a parking lot, but it was hard enough to knock/break the tire off the car. Is there a sensor that could have been damaged? The mechanic/body shop was horrible so I don't think that they would have caught a bad sensor. (Example - They left the top alternator bolt sticking out almost an inch - in other words, they didn't tighten it all the way.)
I was hoping to avoid the $100+ diagnosis at Lexus so I figured I would try here first. I like the customer lounge at the local dealer so I will "suffer" through it if I have to - all of the complementary goodies are hard for me to take.

It's either the speed sensor or reluctor ring. The sensor is a pretty easy fix, the ring is pressed on to the axle and usually means you're installing a new axle. Or just disconnect the ABS and don't worry about it.
