Cool A/C Noise?

Hi everyone,

I have a 2000 RX 300 and love it.... however Ive had this sporadic noise coming from my air conditioner for a while. It sounds like a fast ticking or grinding noise and it doesn't matter whether or not I have the air turned on. It has never lasted long enough for me to take it in and have it looked at (I can only imagine what they would charge).

Another thing is the only time it happens is during the change of seasons.. Im thinking because its the only time I take it from cool to heat and vice versa..?? Ive noticed that when it does happen if I take the controller and turn the heat up it will stop temporarily.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!!

Please search key word "servo" and see if that is your problem too.

If the noise is coming from under the dash to the left of the glovebox. Then it's one or both of the servos. Probably the air mix servo. They sometimes have a mind of their own.

Look a few threads down and you'll see "heater problem". Take a look in there, I posted a few links that will help if it's a servo problem.
