Default gold vs. silver

is there a reason some lexus's have gold lettering and insignia and some have it in silver?:

The gold is a dealer installed option, it was popular in the 90s and early 2ks. Thee is a process where the gold is put on with the trim still on the car, hydrolysis or some damn thing.

A friend of mine had a Lexus with the gold lettering. My understanding is that the car needed to be hand washed, and his Lexus dealer would wash it for free any time he wanted. It was purely for looks.

I think the gold option was onl available on 99'.

I had the gold lettering on my '99 from NJ, mom on her '00 from FL. The lettering held up fine.

ok thanks i thought it had something to do with available options gold had more etc. looks good anyways.
