SkyHigh, that's a great tip about using the soldering iron - I read that on the GS forum a day or two ago and had been meaning to post it here as a best practice, but I forgot... When I remove those orange fruity shells, I'm gonna use the soldering iron for sure (especially since I don't have a dremel tool - HA!)... Oh yeah, one other thing, the tip on the GS forum suggested using masking tape to protect the seal around the bulb when burning the lens out - that's kinda important too...
Now that we got the orange dust problem out of the way, maybe more people will be attempting this mod - not quite as scary any more...
but Sho, you're still the MAN for bein tha first! And thanks for reposting those headlight removal pics - I'm gonna need those real soon
Can't remember off the top of my head, but check out Daddy-O's RX Forum FAQs... all the bulb types are listed in that thread, along with a wealth of other great info on the RX. Good stuff
haha i bet u cant believe what i did. ok i juss finished one side today. haha. it took me FOREVER. since i didnt have any of those tools. i had this these scissor things that cut through plastic. i hammered out the reflector. then i spent a few hours cuttin the reflector piece by piece until the whole thing fell out. haha it took a long time and was extremely frusterating, but i did it and im sooo relieved. . next week ill do the other side. the headlight on the passenger side, i was looking under the fender. how do i take out both of those screws? the very top one, theres something blocking the bolt? help me on this one. how'd u do it?
There are clips on either end and double sided sticky tape that runs under neath all along the strip. Un clip the ends and carefully pull the whole thing off. Might be easier if it has sat in the sun for a while so the sticky tape gets hot and sticky. You might need to replace the sticky tape before you attach the strip to the new light.
