Default RX 300 won't start without giving it a little bit of gas

2001 RX 300, regular maintenance, 85,000 miles with no add ons. It wont do it all the time but intermittently, when you go to start the vehicle, it will act like it wants to start but will not. Upon trying it again immediately AND giving it a little bit of gas via the accelerator, it starts right up and continues to run. Thanks in advance for your help.

I recommend cleaning out your IACV. I've had the same issue before and it fixed it right up.

While your are at it, I would suggest cleaning the TB and MAF since you will have access to TB and the MAF will need to be removed to get to the ICV.

Is engine light on? If so I would pull the codes to give you a better idea.

I cleaned out the TB and IACV and then used the special cleaner for the MAF and put everything back together and it started right up and did so again this morning. Since the problem was intermittent, the true test will be will it start every time for the next couple of day.....I think it will. Thanks for the help...great site.
