What oil are you using right now?
I'm curious to see what everyone is using right now for their oil?
Right now, I am on the winding end of using Pennzoil Ultra 5W30 (hit nearly 7,000 mile mark after extended travel to the west coast of Florida for work) and that's usually what I was running Castrol 0W30 with. I can't really give it a thumbs up or thumbs down. MPG has stayed pretty much the same, but I didn't notice any jump in MPG when I first tried this out. However, I am aware from others that does an excellent job in cleaning.
I am looking at a few different oils for my next test:
Castrol SLX Professional 0W30 (VW/Audi dealers sell this)
Redline 0W30
Lucas 0W30
Motul 0W30
The Lucas hit my radar screen as a good friend in England with a Toyota Harrier has run that oil and claimed a bump in range on his drives, and I have read some on some Mini Cooper forums about similar bumps. I noticed much the same when I ran Castrol 0W30 in Mexico and particularly on my return trip home to Florida 3 years ago. I've also had friends who used Castrol (GC) 0W30 rave about experiences with the Castrol SLX (describing it as not feeling as heavy as the GC 0W30).
I am nearly convinced, though not entirely, that a 0W is the way to go. Even when I experimented with Mobil 1 0W40 (which is actually one of the better Mobil grades), the engine ran much quieter and MPG was much improved. In addition I can't recall a time when I ran at the track in Mexico that I did not break a record without running a 0W30 or 0W40 oil.

Your gonna laugh, Valvoline Conventional 5W30. And it has never run better. I only do 3-4k oil changes,so I`m not worried at all about if it can hold up or not. Heck,I used Pennzoil Conventional 10W30 back in the day in my Chrysler Laser XE Turbo! Never had a lick of trouble. Today, everybody would be like are you crazy?

yeah, it was alot of fun! But I took good care of it too. It was the first year (84) with the digital dash. Man what a cool car that was! wish I still had it. I traded it for an 86 Mustang GT and was very dissapointed. My Laser out handled it, much smoother ride, and it seemed like the Laser was just as fast too. The only thing I liked better about the GT was the V-8 sound, and that was about it.

Well, it`s not that it`s bad, but Toyota only back speced 5W20 to 2006. Although I dont see what difference 1 more year makes anyway. How does it run on it? no unusual engine noises, or consumption right? If it runs good on it,it should be fine. (actually I was thinking about trying it myself) I wanted to see if it helped the throttle response, and mpg`s.

I am (and have been using for years) Valvoline Dura-Blend 5w-30 in my 2002 RX 300.
I change my oil every four months regardless of mileage, however I never go over 3,000 miles on a change.

Right now on our 06 4Runner V8, we are using a mix (6.5 quarts total), half Castrol Syntec 5W20 and half Pennzoil Platinum 5W20 based on the backspec alluded to. I swore that I read somewhere about it including the 1MZFE engine (and that engine I think was last used on the 2008 Toyota Alphard minivan).
Before that we were using Eneos 5W30, and we got about 17.3 mpg out of that and consumed a quart over a 10K run.

I'm currently using Quaker State Ultimate Durability 5W-30. No consumption, run's great, and 5k oci.
Before this I used Pennzoil Ultra 5W-30.
I'm about to leave for a 1200 mile road trip (Michigan) in about an hour, once I get back I'll have to change the oil. I'm thinking of using Mobil 1 5W-30, as that's what I used before Pennzoil Ultra and it worked well.
