Hello, I know it's been asked before but not with any definitive answer given. I've searched. Can a rear view mirror/compass actually be swapped for a rear view mirror/dimming only, using the same wire harness? PLUG-N-PLAY???

Finally, these rear view mirrors are a decent price on eBay. I got a great condition auto-dimming with compass rear view mirror for $50. Removed the non-compass model and replaced with the compass model, only had to remove three screws in the sunglass holder area and calibrate the compass. Working perfectly.

Thanks for the idea there 2002rx300!; I might just do the same to mine as long as its compatible with my first year 99 300.

As long as you currently have the auto dimming rear view mirror; the rear view mirror with auto dimming and compass will work, it's plug-n-play. There are many on eBay for around $50 in both the grey and tan.

Thanks for the info! i will look into it. Although 50 bucks does seem just a bit steep; unless its me?
