Default Lowered RX300

Anyone actually do it? How's the handling?

These pics are from the Tein site. It looks pretty good, not riced at all.

TEIN is a good well known name brand and does provide some of the lowest drops on springs. I'm expecting the handling to be definitely better but stiffer ride

There was someone on this forum, that had a RX300 AWD with the FWD Tein springs (he had to do some modifications to the rear), and he lowered the RX. I can't remember his name but you can try doing a search.

Hahah, notice the only car you've had problems with is the domestic one? Hahaha. That lowered RX looks so nice. My friend installed 1/4 inch lowering springs on his G35 and says if i buy them for my RX he will help me put them on. i guess that's what it would look like.

[QUOTE=asantis92;5913529i guess that's what it would look like.[/QUOTE]

I've done a lot of research since I made this post and found that H&R Sport springs are more highly thought of than Tein or Eibach. Also, the drop on the car in the picture is extreme, at least 2.5 maybe 3.

The drop on "normal" springs is around 1.5 which helps the profile but still retains the ride quality that most RX owners require.

The more I look at the extreme drop in those pictures the more it looks like a million other small station wagons. It's as though they've taken our quirky RX and managed to remove all the personality and make it look like a Saab or a Subaru in the process.

Sometimes we get so involved in modding we lose track of what we are actually doing. Remember, those kids with their pants around their knees really do think they look cool.

After thinking it through, I've decided to keep my RX as is. If it were a tangible benefit, maybe but I'm not going to spend 600 bucks to look like a chubby Subaru Forester.

The problem with lowering is it changes the camber. Check out a lowered VW BMW or CIVIC sitting in front of you in traffic of you may notice the wheels are not perpendicular to the ground? That's the camber angle, and because it is screwed up the tires will wear unevenly across the tread. I wonder if the camber would affect the stopping distance and handling ?

Personally I would love to have had the RX a bit lower because I don't feel safe in a floaty boat so high up. Firmer shocks and a bit lower ride height would have been a nice factory option for the sport model. To this day I think they missed the "sport" in sport utility.

might be an old bump, but I was debating whether to drop the lexus slightly.. I just traded my stock rims in for rx330 wheels and tires.. I know with the lower profile tire/bigger wheel combo there is a significant wheel gap.. I dont want to look like a stationwagon/minivan, I would still like to maintain the looks of an SUV so Im hesitant..

what about a slight drop in the front and leave the rear stock? Once these tires go Im going 245/55/18 all around.. So its stance would be improved. thinking like 1-1.5 inches...

My car is lowered and does handle quite well although due for new struts now. Sits 4 inches lower in traffic next to a rx330 never see other rx300's not many around.

If you wait long enough the the car will gradually sit lower as the springs age....May take a while but will happen...
