Lowering springs
anybody here lower their RX? i saw some eibach springs on ebay today...reasonable price but i'm wondering how that affects my ride quality and camber...it's a 1.2" drop...i'm thinking bout some tein coil overs too but they're so expensive...any opinions?
I have the eibach pro-kit lowering springs. I also saw the springs on ebay at a really good cost. I brought the springs for about $285. My ride quality is definitely worse but along with the springs, I have 19 inch wheels. I think the combination of both has changed my ride quality a lot (especially since I drive in the great roads of NYC). If you dont mind the harsher ride, I recommend the springs because they have eliminated a portion of the body roll helping me corner better.... plus I think my RX looks much nicer with them. I will post some pics if you like.
Yes, please post pictures. I keep debating on whether to keep the ground clearance or descend to a lower altitude. Perhaps when I get rims I'll do so. I had the Eibach Prokit spings on one of my vehicles and It definitlely improved the handling. Don't know how it will translate on the RX though. I don't mind the elimination of some body roll, and the ride being firmed up though.
I was wondering how different is it from the Silversport suspension?
If its better then me too would want the eibach instead. How about those Waydoos?? i tried calling lexus and eveyrhtin but they have no answers for me... This is horrible.
any help?

OMG... I hate it when somebody mentions lowering an SUV or adding ground effects... why the heck did ya buy this type of vehicle to begin with???!!!
Can you say rice-a-roni?
Is there body roll?... uh... yea... it's a f***ing SUV with a higher center of gravity. You want no roll? Get an IS or GS, or even an ES with the variable suspension option.
Sorry, just had to vent... it's bad enough I gotta see all the silly mods on the Hondas around here

Preach it RX300TC!! Hehe... I like some mods, but when you start getting into lowering an SUV... ugh. Glad to hear I'm not the only one here who thinks it's a waste of time, money and a good Lexus. That's all I gotta say.

well, you can tell by my purchase of larger rims that this lex ain't gonna be doin' ANY offroading (except in the winter when i put my stocks back on and go snowboarding)...my offroading is done with my jeep wrangler...i figured i'd get a stiffer suspension with the springs and lower the stance (by only 1.2" front and back) is all...thought i'd put a lil "sport" back in this sport utility vehicle's suspension set up...just as other folks decide to put exhaust and intakes to create a better performance engine-wise...no ground effects here, homie...to each his own, no doubt
StrmRdr23, let em know what's up. Fact of the matter is the Eibachs will not transform the RX into a "Lowrider". It reduces the center of gravity, which is not as crazy as someone adding a lift kit to an RX. Some people get on this "SUV" thing a little too seriously. These cars are mainly used on road. Personally, I like the ground clearance but I would like to have slightly firmer handling. Replacing the tires has helped immensely so the Eibach would improve the handling better still. Springs are not a priority for me at this point.
There is a way to add modifications and keep the vehicle in good taste. But at the end of the day, who cares what you think, because it's entirely up to person who owns the vehicle.
Now I'm off to visit the TRD website

I feel ya! Spinteews, no one has been give you concrete information on the specs of the SS supension vs. the regular set-up. It would appear that the Tech's would know. That's strange.
We'll you've driven a RX with the standards suspension correct, any seat of the pants differences?

by the way....I dont think that lowering your car 1.2 inches is a bad mod for an RX....I am with StrmRdr23 and white01....
StrmRdr23....I want 20's.....sniff...sniff.....your car looks sweet.......even better with the springs I think
