Have I purchased the wrong sensor? The Bosch sensor number for the universal sensor is 15739, which I ordered... only to see on Amazon's website that it won't work on a RX-300 Bank 1 Sensor 2. I think the fact that you have to cut and splice might be why they say it won't work.

Why buy a "universal" sensor? The Denso one isn't that expensive

Just do a reward/risk analysis.

Also keep in mind, most likely sensors can not be returned.

I am surprised this hasn't been mentioned regarding replacing the 02 sensor under the seat. The one on the car is prettu thoroughly "cemented" on by rust but.... What's this? The sensor screws into the two-bolt flange. I unscrewed the sensor from the flange and screwed the new one into the old flange, spliced the sensor wires together and voila! the new one works fine!. There doesn't appear to be any problem with this and it certainly simplifies the procedure.
