Thanks for Lexmex's excellent Tutorial in https://www.clublexus.com/forums/rx-...moval-diy.html

I am wondering do I need to remove all of the door panel to replace the actuator? Or just parts of it is enough.

The entire door panel must be removed for either a "piggyback" installation or and OEM actuator replacement.

The door panel should be off in less than 15mins, of course with the help of the diys here. I removed 3 of them last Sunday for 10mins each.

I am planning to use piggyback method to fix my driver side door lock.
Please can someone help me with the following questions:
- Should the window glass be rolled up or down when doing this.
- I have the old ebay universal door lock actuator that was earlier used by everyone in this forum. Do i need to grind the actuator rod to make it use the limited space or that is not needed?
- I am hoping if i mess up in connecting the wires and if it does not work then i can reverse wire connections without damaging anything.

I am just trying to collect all the information and tools before taking up this task :-)

Thanks in advance.
Trips.

Trips- my suggestion would be to do a "search" because there have so many good (thorough) posts on the subject that it is almost pointless to repeat, since I don't believe they can be IMPROVED upon. Also do a search on Lexus Owners Club. If you need more clarification, PM me as I've done a # of them and would actually make a few small changes from what I've done in the past, at this point.
