2002 RX Brake Pads Toyota Part Numbers invalid
Hello all,
I'm trying to find the Toyota part number for my 2002 RX300. I called Lexus parts and was told:
Front: 04465-48050
Rear: 04466-33050
However, my Toyota parts guys cannot locate the front part number in his database?? This is weird! He can locate the rears no problem.
Aren't these numbers all the same?
I'm planning a full brake job of pads, rotors and flush so his prices does make a difference than buying it directly from Lexus. Thanks.

The reason the rears on in his database is because the same ones are used on the rear of a Highlander 4 cyl. The fronts are not used on any Toyota model so they don't show in the Toyota dealers database. If you look at prices at the online Lexus dealers like irontoad and newlexusparts.com you will see there is no money to be saved by trying to get them from a Toyota dealer anyway.
If you are saving at Toyota because of the labor prices, just have the parts guy call over to Lexus and have the fronts sent over or order them online and hand them to him.

The only other number I see for the front is 04465‑48010
for the rear 04466‑33110
but I also see the other numbers you mentioned.
Personally given the prices they charge, I'd go to a place like www.rockauto.com and get the Akebono ProACT Ultra Premium Ceramic Pad (same ones I used and a few others on this forum use)
Front: $52.79
Rear: $42.79
Akebono makes the Lexus pads for the RX300.

Which rotors would you recommend buying from rockauto,or where can I find the cheapest rotors? I am going to be doing the same brake job. This past summer i changed my brake pads all around with duralast pads from autozone and they are total crap. And the duralast brake pads ruined my rotors as well.

I have tried numerous pads while I was in Mexico and the Akebono aftermarket pads I mentioned above (TunedRX300 gets credit for mentioning them to me) have been the best even over the Toyota pads, EBC, Hawk, Carbotech among the ones I tried (in Mexico I'd burn through those other pads like every 6 to 8 months due to a combination of my driving, low oxygen environment (poor for cooling) and the traffic).

Are you looking for more performance (stopping power) from your rotors or longevity? Personally, for my driving style, I would just get OEM again. I'm still on original rotors and I have 125K already with pretty much local driving. I think it's pretty good on longevity.
Braking power, the OEM system could be better, but I haven't had any trouble so far. <knock on wood>.

AlexusAnja- Honestly I just want cheap rotors due to my low budget. So anything will due longevity or performance. Also I dont mind putting better rotors in the front and different worse rotors in the back. Is that a problem or is it fine?
Carguy07- I am also using the Duralast Ceramics and OEM rotors on the RX and the OEM rotors are warped (141,000 miles on the OEM brake pads in the RX right now so the oem rotors lasted a pretty long time) So it may be that which influences my opinion on duralast pads. I also have duralast pads on my caravan and they also are horrible and make noise and the caravan got new rotors as well so i hate duralast brake pads at the moment.

That's sort of what I did too. I needed pads but the original rotors were still good, so I just slapped on some autozone pads. Then the rotors warped bad, so I got a new (lifetime warranty) set of pads and autozone rotors and they have been good ever since. They sometimes creak a little when they are cold, but lots of pads do that. The autozone rotors have been trouble free for quite a while now, they are $35 with a 2 year warranty.

I understand budget constraints and stuff, but brakes are one component of a vehicle that you just don't want to mess with, especially go cheap on. If OEM for pads is $48 and rotors $90, while cheapest aftermarkets let's say $25 and $40, there is reason that the cheap ones are priced like that. It's not just marketing and slapping a Toyota name on it. Toyota has to back their products, JoeSchmo manufacturer just makes their products a dime a dozen.
The only thing between you and the car ahead of you and preventing you from ramming into their bumpers are your brakes. Spend the extra $$$ and get yourself good brake parts. It could mean saving your car and saving some lives.

I use:
97-2001 Camry V6 for front pads.
88-91 Camry V6 rear pads.
I'm sure there are more pads from Toyota vehicles that will work but these are the ones I ask for in the Parts counter.
