I know ObiDon has successfully managed 18x7.5 rims w/+20 offset (5" backspacing) on his ride.
Has anybody successfully run anything wider? What backspacing did you use?
Does anyone know the stock backspacing?

I saw an RX the other day with car rims (non SUV spec). It was a set of 19"'s and it had low profile tires on it.
Looked ugly and imagine the ride on that thing. Plus, it had about a foot of cleavage.

I don't know the specifics of the wheels on cars and suvs but I would think that it would be hard to find SUV tires that fit perfectly (or was designed for) car wheels and the spacing of the wheels because SUV wheelwells are generally larger than that of cars. ALso, car wheels might have differnt hub centricity compared to SUV-spec wheels.
Regardless, the car wheels I saw on the SUV looked like an extreme waste cuz he increased his cleave gap triple and it just looks like rides way too stuff considering SUVs are heavier than cars.
Width wise, they looked like 19x9 19x9

Saw this thread so I went and looked at my setup again. With a 20mm offset you could go to 8.5 in wide wheels and still clear the strut in the back. It starts to flare out as it goes up from there so the 255x55 tire is as tall of a tire you can put on a 18 in wheel. you could go to a lower profile tire and get a wider foot print but you would also lower the RX in the process. Hope this helps.

I've got 255/55/18 Pirelli P Zero Scorpion on Kosei Seneca 18", wide 9" offset 20mm. With these rims and tires the clearance between the tire and the strut is about 3/16".

I like it. Very nice.
How's the ride compared to the OEM 16s? Does it feel like you added 4psi air, 8psi air, or something? Describe, describe, describe....

I've got stock exhaust. Just a different tip. The bug deflector is Lexus accessory attached with little U-shaped clips to the hood's lip. I'm running 35psi. The comfort is lost, jet the performance increased significantly. Cornering could be compared to the sport car but the truck feels more like 4runner now.

ok, i just spoke to some folks at a rim shop and they told me that i should be able to fit a 20x8.5 w/ +31 offset (direct bolt, no spacer) and it'll fit flush in wheel well...what ya'll think bout that? he assures me that he's done it before, no problem...dazz says they can fit a 20x9 w/+37 offset and still clear strut...if so, what size tires? i've heard 265/40/20 (i ran that thru a tire diametre calculator and the diametre is pretty close but hella wider)...HELP! so far, i'm thinkin' bout ordering the 20x9s...if they don't fit, i can return them...

Great pics Mike Z, do you mind me asking how much the bug deflector was at Leuxs? Too bad the 18's give a more harsh ride...it'd be a tought decision for me to give up the ride for handling. I'll bet it's much more fun with the improved handling. I guess I don't have to worry too much about deciding now - no $dinero$
