Talking RX300 Silversport

Greetings,
Can someone tell me how I know if the RX300 Silversport is 4WD, 2WD or AWD?
I really like this vehicle. I have only had it about 2 months. Oh yeah, it is a 2001.
Thanks,

two ways,if your 4th vin# is an H its AWD.Or simply look underneath the RX if you see a drive shaft, its AWD. I dont really know why its a seceret with these RX`s.All of the other brands i.e Nissan,Ford etc. always have an AWD badge on the vehicle some where.Usually on the back.Come to think of it,even the AWD Highlander has an AWD badge!

Just for completeness, I think, as I recall, a third way is that the FWD models have a Traction button to the left of the front cigarette lighter recepticle.

Default Transmission questions

I have a 1999 Lexus RX 300 all-wheel-drive, my transmission went out on me and I’m looking to replace it. My question is, is there any specific details or specific emissions requirements that a transmission needs in order to transfer it to my vehicle. I live in California. Also, are there different types of transmissions for my specific vehicle or parts, that may not be interchangeable. Forgive my ignorance I have no knowledge of transmissions. Thank you.

01/1998-06/2000 is an exact match. Beyond that the transmission may or may not be a drop in replacement I'd ask the parts vendor. Consider getting new
