yes u are right by just pulling up the bottom half of the door panel, but i got bold and took it all off. yea i was wondering about that blue molded mount too for the speaker. (i have a 99) pretty crapy bc now what do i do. should i just mount the new speaker to the door or what? ripping off the factory speaker is not an option bc it is a lease. also u say full range speakers in the door didnt sound good. and next time ull try components. when u had it hooked up that way, did u leave the factory tweeter on?

I had the factory tweets on too. I covered them up with a towel tho to kill the sound. It just didnt sound right with the full range speakers. It may have somehting to do with the factory amp and it likely having an internal crossover.
I suppose the only thing to do would be to mount it right into the door panel. The drawback is that the speaker would be around 3 or 4 inches away from the grill and sound is going to get lost on the way out the grill. But at least that way you can throw the factory speaker back in and they likely wont see that. Then again, if you just cut up the factory plastic and mount a speaker in there, will the dealers actually check that out?
