Unhappy Power interruption problem with no CEL

Hello everyone, I'm brand new to the board and just spent a couple hours searching old messages without seeing any threads on this issue.

For the last year I have had the following problem with my 2000 Rx 300 that has 145,000 miles. The problem is that on most days after leaving the driveway and before reaching a distance of 1 mile the car has a complete loss of power for about 1 to 2 seconds. After that slight interruption it will be fine for the rest of the day (except sometimes if it sits again for many hours). Has anyone on the board had and solved a problem like this? It is just annoying so far but it worries me. Thank you

Have you actually had the code reader hooked up to see if there are pending codes...?

Since the CEL light is not on I saw no reason to have the code reader hooked up. Why would something be pending and not giving me an error message.

I'll try to check the tach next time but like I said I only have a second or two before it is back to normal. Since it always happens within the first mile of driving I'm usually still on back country roads doing somewhere between 25 and 40 mph.

Yes, there can be codes picked up by the reader, such P0171 p/d that will not cause the check engine light to appear.
