My transmission on a 2000 RX300 went at about 100K miles a year ago. I had the transmission rebuilt here in South Jersey for $2800. I currently have about 120K miles and would like to keep the vehicle to 200K miles. My question is has Lexus addressed the AWD transmission reliability issue of the 1999-2001 RX300 vehicles? It would be helpful if a Lexus representative would respond to this question.

I don't think we have an official Lexus representative openly commenting on the forum, but this is what one might say:
"We try to make a better RX with each redesign. The RX330 should have been better than the RX300, and the new 2009 RX should be even better than that. So, please consider buying a new, 2009 RX".

Welcome to ClubLexus.
If you lived in southern California or northern New Jersey, instead of Alberta, Canada, you'd probably have more options. A search of this forum should yield a lot of information. There was a posting a day or so ago about getting a used transmission put in at a Toyota/Lexus salvage yard for around $1,000. Over the past few months, there has been a lot of discussion regarding all the options and their costs. But, your geographical location probably limits your options.
I'd be very wary of the transmission repair chains. If you give us the symptoms, we might be able to verify whether or not things have totally gone bad.

my only suggestion is if the car repair is more then the actual blue book value then out the door the car should go. i mean the car has alot of miles and is 9 years old problems such as these occur i mean they happen all the time on brand new cars which has zero miles.. just trade this in and upgrade to like a 05 or 06 with about 40 or 50 something thousand miles on it and im pretty sure they will have warranty attached since it is lexus....GOOD LUCK

Came across this thread looking for more information. My 2001 rx300 transmission just went out at 158,000 miles. Could not shift the car beyond first gear. Took it to my local mechanic who quoted me about $1800 for a used transmission, $2200 to rebuild mine, or $3050 for a Toyota rebuilt unit. Opting for aftermarket rebuild as both rebuild options include a year warranty.
