There are 2 belts. the adjustment is in the alternator for one and the steering pump for the other .. that means you need to loosen them to free the old belts.

At the end you need to tension the belts and that is where the skill comes in. My feeling is that if you have the skill to get the right tension .. you do not need any DIY steps.

Keep in mind you will ruin the bearings and cause more damage if you over tension the belt and if you keep them too slack the slip will glaze the belt and render them useless.

As a DIY I rely on tools and gauges. Lacking those, I would give a professional his/her fee.

Hey Salim,

I just relocated from Austin to Houston. Any recommendations for repairs? Even oil change locations?

I have been in Austin for ages and dont know much about Houston. Even here in Austin, I go to the dealer or DIY.
