How many miles can I expect out of a Lexus RX300?

Hi Toyo, congratulations on getting that many miles out of your RX300. That's very impressive. Can I ask what are some the repair times you've done on your car? I'd imagine you would have replaced your struts, mounts, and wheel bearings given that many miles. And possibly your door actuators. Just want to know what to expect if I ever get that many miles from my RX330. Thanks

My RX300
I just gave my sister my RX (2002) with 160,000. Expect that it will go another 100k, at least. Never had a vehicle as reliable. Keep up with the maintenance, and this auto will go forever. This site has been incredible. Thank you all who contribute.

I have a 2001 AWD in Black Onyx over Dark Grey Metallic with 273K/mi and change and a 2000 AWD in Beige Metallic over Topaz Metallic with 194K/mi and change. I Love them both...

205k and Counting
I bought my RX300 with 38,000 miles and have keep changing my oil at 5k with Mobile 1 extended and transmission oil changes every 15k miles, with a full flush at 60K. I reached 200k without any issues other than a few oxygen sensor changes. At 200k I decided to do a refresh and replaced all the exterior lighting with chrome accents, did preventative maintenance by changing all O2 sensors, rebuilt the fuel system by adding a new pump, strainer, and filter and finally --- I re-skinned the front leather seats, stripped the interior and added new speakers & soundproofing.
Now I am ready for the 500K mile mark.... This machine is amazing....

I must have the fewest miles here for a 2000 RX300 FWD. Just at 130k miles. Bought it used in 2008 with 80k. Main issue has been bad ignition coils. I had four go bad over a period of five years, and after the fourth failure I went ahead and replaced the other two as a preventative measure. Easy DIY fix.

Update- j
I have a 1999 RX300, I purchased it from a family member with 110,000 miles on it. I now have 250,335 on it and looking to get 300k out of it. I change oil myself every 3000K miles. I have had a complete tune up done about 70,000 miles ago; timing belt, water pump, thermostat, plugs and ignition coils. That was for my own peace of mind. I just change break fluid and this spring I will do another engine coolant change and tranny flush, but again, that is my own peace of mind in doing so. I just changed the OCV (solenoid) as my check engine light was on (codeP1354) and car is running just fine again.
I could do many minor things to car such as; seat belt does not coil back, arm rest is worn out, slight rip in drivers seat, and my license plate lamp is out (screws are stripped and rusted). The car runs great!!! I take it on 300 - 400 mile road trips with no worries. I used to say my 1988 Honda Accord was the best car I ever owned, but this car is the best for sure.

Has your family member expressed regret for letting go of such an able and long-lived vehicle so soon <grin>?
You are proof that a good maintenance regime can pay off.
Congrats!

They can run almost forever I met a lady at Tustin Lexus here in Southern CalWith 480,000 miles on her RX300 2001 there's a man with a 2001 ES 300 has the same transmission and motors is our RX 300's. He has 700+ thousand miles same motor same trans don't ask me how I can't tell you. I drove a 1986 Toyota Cressida 529,000 miles I had a 1991 Lexus LS 400 it went 400,000 my 2001 RX 300 only has150,000. I used mobile one in the transmissions the power steering the motor in the rear ends changing it every 35,000 miles in all my cars and nothing ever wore out. I am now using Max Life from Walmart at about $24 a gallon on my RX 300 I drained four quarts through the drain plug on the bottom of the transmission pan and refill I do this every 30,000 front wheel drives don't last as long as rear wheel drives. I am also using Max life in my power steering but I'm still using mobil one extended service in my engine I changed between 10 and 15,000 miles. I plan to put about 400,000 miles on my RX 300, you can rest assure it will go the distance. If you live in cold weather synthetic oil is the only way to go if you live in Arizona or Texas or Southern Cal again synthetic oil will operate in superhot climate and stand up to whatever you throw at it this has been my experience over the years. Synthetic oil is way overkill our engines don't even put it to work, that's why our engines can go upwards of 500,000 miles.Been there and done it

my brother has no quarrels with selling the car, he was moving from NJ to San Diego. He had no need for the car.
Actually he drove the car back from San Diego when he purchased it while on a business trip. 3 years later he moved to San Diego full time. My goal is to hit 300,000 then drive it cross country from NY to San Diego and give it to my niece for her first car. She is 15 now so timing could be perfect.

Hello Hello.
As many transmission horror stories you'll see on this forum the RX300 is still a very strong, reliable, long-term vehicle you can depend on. Mine has about 109,xxx miles on the clock and still runs strong. It is an '01 AWD and I can tell you I'm a spirited driver.
What I recommend with this car is liberal fluid changes, especially the transmission. You can pick up some Toyota T-IV for ~$4-5/quart at most Toyota dealerships and do the drain and fill yourself every 10-15K miles, it's a relatively easy and rewarding task.
I use Royal Purple synthetic in the transfer case and rear differential for many beneficial reasons, including extended drain intervals because those plugs are less than pleasant to get to.
As far as your engine goes a popular synthetic oil around here is German Castrol 0W-30, which is the oil in mine currently but I have also used Valvoline 5W-30 with great results.
These combined with some hand washes and waxes keeps my RX happy.
