Can a junk yard master key be reprogrammed for the remote features only?

Thus being a key FOB, I will remove the cut portion.

Sure, I can't think of any reason why it couldn't. My neighbor has a '99 ES and back then they came with fobs. The car doesn't know that the key and electronics aren't in the same shell.

I called a company that sells new keys on ebay. The man that I spoke to said that any RX remote from 1999 to 2003 would work. He said that it has to be an RX300 remote, and it has to be from those specific years. Thanks again for your response. mot86.
