Default 16 inch custom wheels

I have new 235 70 16 inch tires.

If I put them on 8 inch rims with a 25 offset like these...

http://www.discounttiredirect.com/di...w=8&bp=5-114.3

Will they fit on my RX300?

How about 7 inch rims with a 38 offset?

Thank you.

If you go with that offset you need a spacer with longer stubs or the hub adapter. You need 45 or higher on the offset to clear your brakes.

OEM rim offset is +35, for wider rims, the center of the rim need to be shallow or not as caved in from the edge to make room for wider rim. Having +25 offset you are going to the right direction and should not rub with 235 tires.
I am not sure +38 will rub since you just moved 3mm closer to the rear strut, plus the tire is 5mm wider on each side, so now it is 8mm pushed in. Tires will flex, so you are really cutting it close.
I have +45 because the rim I wanted does not have other offset...For your case, the only way to make sure is to try it out.

Default offset

Thank you for your replies so far. But now I'm more confused...

Your answers seem to conflict each other. Do I need a higher or lower offset if I go wider in rim size?

Thank you,
Andy

Andy,
You need less positive offset. Here is a good picture, as you can see, more positive rims will "push" the rim in. Google for many articles on the Web that will explain in detail if you don't understand what an offset is.

OK So...

Exactly what width(s) rim and offset(s) will work well with the 235 70 16's on my rx300?

Any suggestions for brand and styles in that size?

Thank you,
Andy
