Hey has anbody got some experience with the washable Air filter from fram that is being sold at walmart? price is around $21 for the one for the Lexus RX300.

 

It looks like an interesting product. I'm curious as to its flow characteristics and filtering ability, having wrecked my home's A/C evaporator and air handler with a similar "permanent", washable filter some years ago. It filtered out the big chunks just fine, but allowed fine particles to pass through that coated the coils and lead to failure.

I agree with Lil4X, I don't think the risk is worth the small savings. For me, the OEM engine air filter replacement is every two years and takes just a minute or two.
