2002 RX300 with 132,000 miles. Only issue is that I have to push the Shift Release Button occasionally. I put in a new brake switch and it helped for awhile. It may just need cleaning, or the sensor is shot.

Still love this vehicle! Hope it keeps going for 100,000 more miles! Thinking the AWD will be useful this year, which I haven’t needed the last two years here in TN:-) Except for peace of mind at boat ramps in winter months when the water freezes on the ramps.

2001 and I'm now at 182,000 miles.

I had the transmission replaced at approximately 92,000 miles.

Other than that nothing major.

I replaced the front struts and sway bar links last year. I am about to replace the lower control arms, ball joints, and inner-outter tie rods.

My right front passenger window has the typical "won't go back up" issue. I'll try to get to that after the rainy season is over.

256,000 miles on the 1999; 128,000 on the 2003; both as of January 1, 2019.

108,000 [2003 MY]. Third owner. Engine shows signs of sludging up as seen through oil filler cap. Front lower control arms and ball joints replaced because OEM rubber was shot. Sometimes the air circulation system makes a weird noise but it still works well enough. Headlight housings need to be polished every 6 weeks due to yellowing. Everything else works as new, including all electrics, but a 17 year-old car is a 17 year-old car...wish me luck!

We just picked up our second 2001 RX 300. Our first one lasted for 274,000 miles. The only things I hated about this car was the timing belt replacement requirement and the 02 sensors not lasting as long as they should. Never had any mechanical problems until the transmission died. Fast forward 6 months waiting on the Mafia (IRS) to return some money to us we found another 2001 RX 300 at a local dealership. It had a rebuilt title due to a front end collision early in its existence. Had two very trustworthy mechanics check it out and bought it for $2000. It only has 125,000 miles on it and a slipping transmission. Considering we almost bought another RX that was a 1999 for $6000 we figured this 2001 was a good enough deal even considering a $4200 bill for a remanufactured transmission replacement. So, only time will tell if this turns out to be a great SUV like our last one....

That is so weird to me that your tranny died so young and my first RX lasted 274,000 miles when the tranny died. I just bought another 2001 RX 300 with 125,000 miles and a bad tranny. You'd think that these companies could build a tranny that would last. An employee at a local Ammaco said they weld something in the tranny that makes it last, can't remember what it was. I hope your new (?) tranny last for 300,000 miles!

Damn! I thought my 2001 RX300 lasted a long time, it died about 6 months ago with 274,000 miles. The tranny locked up...it doesn't make sense that so many trannies die around the 100,000 mark and yet some last so much longer.

Sorry to hear about the sludging. Likely neglected by the first or second owner or both. Fact is, if you change the oil in these engines like you are supposed to, there is no sludge problem. My '99 has low miles but no signs of sludge at all and that's due to prudent maintenance.

Thanks. It was kind of a bummer to discover that, but they say they changed it "regularly." I put a few ounces of Seafoam in the pan, and I'll pull a valve cover for a closer look in a week to have a closer look. Synthetic goes in soon.

The previous owner doesn't remember changing the trans fluid and brake fluid, so I'm adding that to my list of things to do. It's ok though, I got a •great• deal on it.

Toyota/Lexus and Hondas are the worst cars to buy used because their owners rarely care for them. "It's a great car, never been in the shop!" which means it needs everything...

2000 RX300 243K. Just now starting to get some hesitation in transmission when cold. Slow(er) shift from 1st to 2nd and 2nd to 3rd...but only when cold. I'd love to see her make 300K.

Default Mileage

Currently have 190,000 , RX had a few issues this year . One transmission problem ( bucking , hesitation) , but two drain, and fills solved it. Have a 442 error code now. My sister has the 300 in Las Vegas so not as well taken care of. A great car will be 17 in March.

Default 2001 RX300 lasted 283,196 miles

I am the original owner of the 2001 RX300. The car had 283,196 happy miles before it recently got into an accident and was totaled. Someone ran a red light and hit the RX on the side. The good news is no one got hurt. Before the accident, the car runs great and I think it can easily get into 300k miles.

The RX300 was on the third timing belts, original engine, original transmission. No engine sludge issue. Change transmission fluid every 30k miles. Change oil every 5k miles. The car was well built and last forever.

There are issues with this car: window switch not working properly, one door lock not working, back door hard to open, antenna not going down during winter. Considering this is an 18 years old car, these issues are minor.

Sad had to see this sweet ride goes. But it’s time to move on. I just got a brand new 2019 RX450h. Love the new ride! Hope this baby can last even longer than my 2001 RX300.

Default 2001 awd 198,500

Just redid front struts and rack n pinion within last 8 months. Now tranny issues. Anyone know where the fuses for the transmission are? Or the relays, I can't find anything to do with transmission. Thanks
