Just recalled that on a couple DIY changes I am pretty sure I added the 5 gts. then had to top off with about a half quart more to get to the top fill mark. I usually am in no hurry and I let it really drain before plug/fill.

I am sure 5.5 qts is the right amount. When I DIY my oil change, I always get 5.5 qts of oil back and of course I need 5.5 qts to get full mark.

I just did my 3rd oil change. After reading this, I realized I might have made a mistake.
What does dry fill mean?
I always assume I need 4.7L of oil or 5 qt. I've been running like that for the past 16k...usually after the oil change, it's up to the mid point on the dipstick.

That's like when they fill it a the factory. I think its about 5.2 l. If you took off the filter, then 4.7 l.

How come some people on this topic said they had to bring 5.5 qt to dealership?
I'm getting confused...

It's 4.7, stick to that. Some oil always stays around, just like ATF fluid in the tranny, only to a much lesser extent.

I will tell you that it's not the first time I have heard of somebody telling me (I heard this in PM a few times) of Lexus dealers saying to bring 5.5. Unless they do something where they suck every last drop out (a.k.a. flush), I have only seen them drain and fill. The dealer I used up in San Antonio a few years ago (though I didn't need it since I do my own) did not tell me this.
