Default 2001 RX300 starter

Well I thought I'd add this for the record in case someone comes across this. My 01 RX300 with ONLY 67K miles did the infamous clicking this morning when I tried to start. Tried couple of times with the same result. Opening and closing the hood hard jolted the starter and it started right up after that. It's under CPO warranty so I'll let the dealer take care of but I'm very disappointed to have this occur at such a low mileage. I don't recall anyone having a starter going out this early. Denso is showing some signs of quality issues, I never had problems before 100K on previous vehicles.

Could be strater or just the solenoid or wires or battery.

We all may expect 100K+ of worry free miles, but the base warranty is much shorter.

Update on this, I'm glad to say that I was wrong on this one. All indications were pointing to the starter. Although the battery is only 1.5 years old (Lexus Battery) and that when it did start it started up strong, it was in fact the battery! I've never had a battery go this early, but it was replaced for free anyway. Also, I should mention for those who have reported having the oscillating/flickering interior dome light issue, well sure enough mine does not do this anymore with the new battery installed!! Thanks Salim for your response.

I just had the exact same thing happen to my truck. It was also the battery and was luckily replaced for free. Good to hear you were still covered
