Electric Antenna - options?

I hate electric antennas. For my 1999 RX300, is there any alternative? In other words, one that doesn't retract every time you turn off the car. TIA.

i have not attempeted, but i wud think it shud be easy to disconnect the antenna motor and run the radio wire to another spot where you can use a solid antenna that comes in newer RX's or get a shark fin type like those on BMW's

check out this link to a previous post where this guy uses a Honda S2000 antenna on his RX.

Looks cool and effective. If you try it out let us know the results.

Lexus dealer wants $85.00 just for the replacement antenna mast! Ouch!

My antenna hardly ever gets used since I have the XM Radio hookup with the cassette adapter, though I do like a lot of the local music down here.
