Friend's RX Keyed
My friend with an 03 Silver RX parked on a street nearby a rather "undisciplined" middle school and needless to say, he got keyed. One long deep scratch along the passenger side doors. Then, a few days later, same area, ANOTHER long key scratch on the same side.
Logic tells me it's some PUNK *** kid. Likely, the same punk both times.
Well, he and I are seriously thinking of setting something up to find out who it is and then... well... disciplinary actions will (and IMO SHOULD) be taken.
Any idea on how we would go about achieving this? or what we should do?
Although the kid would be getting what they deserve...perhaps just set up a car and a video camera to capture it, but why would you risk getting another nice car keyed?
Boy, your friends sure have a problem with vandalism! First the guy with the MB gets his window broken, then the friend with the RX gets keyed. Me, I'd move out of the area. Seriously, why would someone whose car is vandalized EVER park on the street in the same neighborhood again? If for some reason they have to park there, they probably shouldn't waste the money having the damage repaired. His insurance company would probably agree, refusing to repaint the car every few weeks.
Kingkong's right. The satisfaction gained by catching the little perp probably isn't worth the cost of further damage - and giving the kid the pounding he richly deserves would land an adult far enough back in the jailhouse they'd have to pump daylight to him.

Yeah, he really HAS to park there. I don't know. hah, and that isn't the end to the vandalism stories either...
Actually, with my new job I am going to get an old junker since I have to park on the street and the RX300 gets to be the racecar on the weekend.
Umm, going a little more back to a real solution...some of the diplomats in Mexico and even some non-diplomats have taken to hooking up hidden cameras in their vehicles that aim on the door area of their vehicles (also used to go after corrupt cops and anti-kidnapping). I have another neighbor, with a Ford Expedition, whose alarm always goes off when I start up my RX, and he on purpose has his alarm put to high sensitivity enough that a kid doing what you are describing will immediately set off the alarm.
