I remember you had some lightweight rims that must also help. I was looking at some Rota aluminum rims recently in the 16 inch range that were under 14 lbs. a rim.
You are welcome. It is nice to get other members to get indepedent feedbacks.
Yes I am planning to install SSR Competition 18", which is 15.5lbs per instead of stock's 26lbs. I am still waiting for the Goodyears to arrive since TireRack has not received RepsonsEdge from Goodyear yet. I will be the first couple of customers to get them
I believe the gas price in the US will hit $5 per gallon by the end of 2007, it is not a bad investment to invest in a set of forged alloy rims for much better effecient usage of power generated by the engine: either save the energy to increase mpg or use it to get better 1/4 mile time.

Amazing how somethings that give power also save us gas. I think with the rims I will plan to get some maybe for Christmas when I drive up to San Antonio.

Wanted to mention to the forum members I got a new job offer today and should be in Mexico for probably a good bit longer.

New Cross Terrains in stock size, inflated with Nitrogen
New PCV valve.
Car empty of all junk (except spare tire)

Yet I constantly get 16 MPG.

I am going bonkers trying to get my MPG up closer to 20.

Is there ANYTHING else I can do to get closer to the EPA ratings, does anyone here actually get 20MPG on their AWD RX?
I get 24-25 MPG with my 2002 RX300 AWD in Colorado, 17 MPG back in NYC stop-n-go. That's with my luggage racks, rear spoiler, and bumper guards front and back.

First, get rid of that stupid K&N filter. And stop using BG-44 or any other snake oil. Slow down. Don't go 75-80 mph, that'll just waste gas. There's always a red light or patrol car ahead. My average speed during my commute is 60-65 mph. Also trying switching gas station, your station may be cheating on octane.

Hope this helps.

i replaced the maf sensor on my 99 awd rx300 and it improved the mpg by almost a mile, but im still running 16.7 mpg. Im also using a k&n filter and made a custom cold air system intake similar to lexmex.

I am curious if it is similar to the system that TunedRX300 made for his RX, as he actually invented his system a little bit before mine and has a much cleaner assembly.

My system would never be approved in California, well maybe Baja California.

That's interesting what you say about the MAF sensor. I actually wondered what this might do in the power department.

Most MAF can be cleaned under 5 minutes. I believe California's re-formulated gas reduces emission but gives less power per gallon. I got 24mph on hwy, and 20 mph for mixed driving, roof rack, mudflaps off, spare tire off.

The goal of the air filter is to balance the air flow with effeciency. K&N allows slightly better air flow while let in finer particles. It is a classic debate that gets a lot of people emotional, so I am not interested to participate the debate, just want to share some facts

1) I kept asking but so far have not seen any oil test result posted to show substantial particles that can harm engines. If anyone has one, please post
2) MAF clogging is not exclusively for K&N users, in fact, most clogging posting on both CL and LOC forums are from owners who use OEM paper filters. This confirms that both OEM and K&N let in particles that can clog MAF over time.

I got 28.6 MPG on freeway and 19.4MPG on city. I stalled Weapen R short ram intake two years ago! My RX300 right now 90850 miles! Not so bad MPG! Main problem 4 speed automatic really sucks! I always put 87 grade my 01 RX300.

I know a few people with the Harriers in the Far East and they tell me know difference with that little tiptronic option they have on theirs with regards to gas mileage. Actually, would love to have a true shifter.

I found a direct link to that turbo I was mentioning earlier, http://www.hiperturbo.com/default.htm

It is indeed quite interesting with the design. My buddy with the RX7 had some friends with Miatas with this turbo who contacted me today. No problems with theirs and virtually no lag whatsoever. They have designs with the 6.0 psi versions that don't require an intercooler. As I was mentioning earlier I don't know without sufficient modifications to the transmission (and I have located a group in New Jersey to do it) I can go above 8 psi. I was talking to some people with Camry and Solara 1MZFE turbos and I go the sense that double digits are possible, but heard the story of going like 20 psi and your rods and pistions will turn your engine into a steel refinery.

As far as MPG (for the relevant topic), they said that have to fill up probably 1 or 2 days later than they normally would given their commutes as opposed to before.

My long term average is 30.4mph, there goes the accuracy. Looks like the old division we learned at grade school still has its use.

I pulled the ECU-B fuse (hope that was the right one). Saw about 1 MPG more for a few days, now back to 16MPG.

I do 80% city driving and 20% highway. Everyday I drive up 2 steep hills.

I guess I'll just have to suck it up. I want to blame the new Ethanol fuel 10% for the poor MPG. I've read Ethanol has worse MPG than regular fuel and it burns hotter (maybe contributing to the high heat the RX300 engine experiences and the subsequent gelling of the oil.
