First I think it is funny that they call it Silver Sport and you can get it in all black. Wouldn't that be Black Sport? Anyway...

Looking at the Lexus site it appears that the Silver Sport comes with a different grill, painted roof rack, perforated leather instead of the regular leather (and I still think the grey leather in our 99 is a better color), and aluminum accents instead of wood.

How much are you paying for these things? At best a different grill shouldn't be more than $200 and in fact should be about the same price because when you buy an aftermarket grill they aren't giving you credit for your existing grill. Painting the roof rack? $5 for some paint at your local hardware store, it is still the same rack. Perforated leather? Doesn't poking holes in it mean I have less leather? Ok if you like that styling it might be worth something but how much extra are they charging vs. regular leather and would anyone but a really hard core RX-300 fan know the difference? Aluminum accents? You can probably find those on Ebay or from some other aftermarket supplier, personally I'd like them, but how much do I have to pay for them?

Is there anything else "unique" about the Silver Sport version that I couldn't get on a regular RX-300?

Not to put this version down, but when I first heard about it, I was hoping for something more substantial, a boost in engine performance, different wheels and tires, unique color scheme, something.

I just hope you guys aren't paying a lot extra for this stuff.

You missed the most important feature of the SS. It has euro-tuned suspension. I find it rides about the same as the 00Rx I traded in for it, but handles much better on corners. I also like the fact that it's unique. There were getting to be a lot of Rx's around that looked just like my 00Rx. Bottomline, best price on a SS is about the same as a regular Rx with the same options.

I'm sorry I have to chuckle whenever I read "euro-tuned" suspension. What does that mean exactly? I must have missed that on the Lexus website. Is that bigger sway bars? different springs? different struts? what are the differences? Did someone from Toyota in Japan take the car to Germany and test it on the track to qualify for "euro-tuned" ?

My question was really are you guys paying a lot more for the SS edition and if so how much more? So far it seems like it isn't that much more expensive, which is probably a good thing.

I'm not having any handling problems with our '99 RX, but I'm not competing in Auto-X events with it either... nor should I be...

I am not sure what they changed in the suspension but I can definetly feel the handling improvement in normal everyday driving. I didn't have any handling problems with my 00Rx but it's the old you don't kmow what your missing until you have it. As far as price goes, in NJ about 2 months ago you could get non-SS and SS for about the same price.
