Yeah it's a Geographical thing. We waited 3 months to get an AWD RX in Georgia when the 330s first came out. In the south 99% of RXs are FWD. I have family in Michigan and go there 3-4 a year and wanted to have the security of AWD.It's also much better in heavy downpours and in light mist situations even in the south! Just nail it and go.

weird. in canada (where i am), all RX's came with AWD... there was no FWD model, so the badge issue was never a problem with me

In Mexico, I cannot remember how Toyota sells their vehicles, but I know that AWD is sold. However, I know several car makers that will not offer AWD down here.

One of my dad's friends has a U.S. plated Suburban 4x4 model down here and when his family moved back to the U.S. for quality of schools issues the Suburban went back with the wife since it is big enough for all the kids.

I remember we went to the Chevrolet dealer and no 4x4s sold at all in Mexico. I saw that salesman not too long ago and apparently since the non 4x4s sell so poorly in the rest of the world, they get dumped in Latin America (basically forcing it down people's throats). He ended up getting the non 4x4 model after a decent discount.

For me personally, its just nice having that badge. There are so many RX buyers out there, it would be interesting to see how many buyers chose the AWD over the FWD. Either way its a Lexus .
