Intermitent Starting Problems w/RX300-2001
Hi all. I have an RX300 and have been having intermitent starting problems for the past few months. At times the car doesn't want to start but will ultimately start after pumping the gas peddle, which I know you're not suppose to do. Other times, it starts but its starts at a very SLOW idling. At time's when starting the car, the RPM is close to 0. When the car starts normally, it close to 1 (1000) . I mentioned this when I had brought it in to Lexus in June for my 60,000 mile check up which cost me $2,000.00 but it still happens.
Had anyone had any similar problems with their RX300. Someone had mentioned to me that a while back there was a recall for the RX300 relating something with gas but I never received any notice. I was wondering if the that was the problem.
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

$2000 for a 60K service?
. . . and I was shocked at the $500 service charge on my RX 300! . . . maybe it was that $75 car wash . . .
Seriously, it sounds like you have some sensor problems that may be sending the ECM confusing signals. You might try another Lexus shop in your area - even a Toyota shop - before going back to that dealer.

Well, the $2,000 included new F/R breaks. But I still think it's alot.
I wouldn't feel so bad if my problem was solved but it continues.
Thanks for the link. I'm new to this forum and see it could be very helpful.
