I'd written here a bit ago about my dilemma - should I get a new 2001, or settle for a used 2000 RX300. After reading the responses (many thanks, LexRX - yours was very valuable), I decided to go with the new one, for two reasons:

1. The price differential didn't seem that different; and
2. My partner (who thinks I'm nuts anyhow for wanting the car) pointed out that one of the wonderful things about a new car is that it should "make your heart sing," and that a used one might not do that.

Ok, weak excuses, I agree, and there was a dash of rationalization.

Anyhow, on Wednesday, I took delivery of my Winter Gold (read: White) Luxury RX300 (NAV isn't available here in Canada). I love it!

I'm sure I'll have questions as she & I get to know each other. . . For today, I'll just post one or two.

Talking cnogratulations!!!

lexuswannabe (guess you'll have to rename now), i disagree: those are not weak rationalizations at all. No reason not to buy new when price difference is small..........the new car experience is worth something and if, because of whatever reason, you have a situation where you can enjoy for a minimum premium over used, why not?

Additionally, as woody allen once said, "the heart wants what the heart wants" and the ability to make yours sing will linger long past the pleasure saved from scrounging a few extra bucks.

OOr maybe I just rationalize in the same way that you do!!!! (And my wife's 99 RX is also white. )

again, congratulations and welcome!!
