I was washing my car Saturday and noticed I had two rust spots on the front (which really surprised me). Then, I washed it again today (we got more snow two days prior - needed to get the grime off) and, I've got two in the back and what looks like more trying to pop in. These are areas where I don't have chips from rocks - it looks like it's coming up through the paint.
I'm not real knowledgeable about cars, but to me, it seems like an awefully young car to be having rust problems. It's a 1999 with 60,000 miles. I've owned it now since August and I've never noticed and rust spots until last weekend. Other than that, it's been a good car, but, I am a tad bit upset about this.
Has anyone else had this problem? They are not big, about the size of a pinhead, but, seems to me I shouldn't be having problems with my paint.
When I am home, my car is in the garage so I'm not leaving it out "in the elements" unless I'm at work or running errands, etc.
They are on the hatchback and there's quite a few of them. They are coming up through the paint. There's no chip spots back there (and, I've only got two chip spots and those are in the front which I'm having taken care of.)
I called the 800 number for Lexus today and talked to someone in customer satisfaction. She said the car has a 6-year rust corrosion warranty but that it may not be covered. I have to take my rx in tomorrow to have it looked at and see if it qualifies. Keep your fingers crossed!
