Default Help us buy an RX300!

Well,

After much research, reading, test driving, tire kicking, looking and investigating, we've decided the RX300 is the best vehicle in this segment for the price. Wondering if there are any less documented issues we should be concerned with when looking at an RX? We've also driven low mileage ones (20,000) and high mileage ones (60,000+) and to be honest, you'd be hard pressed to tell which vehicle has the higher miles..which is a testament to the outstanding quality of these vehicles. Should we shy away from a higher mileage example? It's really only a price issue. I have no problem driving a higher mileage RX. As I said..the quality was enough that a higher mileage car was just a solid, and I could see putting many more thousand miles on it without a worry. What are some of the highest mileage RX's on this board, and generally, what is the first REAL problem to be concerned about replacing on a 60,000+ mile RX? Thanks for all replies..it is much appreciated!! ~R

My car is for sale as well. I bought it from my Mom last year when it just went out of warranty at 54000 miles. Problems to date:

1. MAF or Mass Air Flow sensor went south. Replaced at the dealer. They tell me that some Lexuses had this problem. Not very common but not uncommon either.

2. D light on the transmission indicator went out. You know...it goes from P, R, D, 3, 2, 1. Very common. I didn't bother to fix it. No big deal.

That's about it. BTW, I like the RX300 so much so that I bought another RX300 but this time, I bought the Silversport edition.

You can e-mail for the pictures. As for the price, I guess you can pay the Private Party price from Edmunds.com. And since you live in a different state you I will split the transportation cost with you.

Someone posted a great fix for the drive light. Search around, it may be on the maintenance forum. If you don't find it I'll help locate it and I have a copy. HE DESERVES MUCH TKS FOR POSTING IT!

If I were buying a high mileage vehicle of any make I would want to see service records and especially oil change records. JMO.

Default DRIVE INDICATOR LIGHT

The drive indicator light burns-out before the rest of them because it's ON longer and more often that the other indicator lights! It's covered under the 4- year/50,000 mile bumper-to-bumper warranty.
