Default Keeping it in the Family - 99RX

Hello everyone, happy to be on this forum for hopefully the first post of many. My parents purchased a certified used99 RX 300 in 2004 with pretty low miles. According to my parents in 2006 they had the engine replaced (sludge) at 90 K.

The car lived about 15 years in Colorado and the last five years in northern New Mexico. The last five years it hasn’t been driven a whole lot. It’s basically just been a spare car for when my parents go to visit my sister in New Mexico.

it’s done a few recent hour plus highway runs and has new tires and an oil change.

Tomorrow, my daughter (16) and I are flying from Madison Wisconsin to New Mexico and I’m gonna hang out with my sister for a day or two and then drive the car back!!!

we’ll take it slow and do some frequent an early checks on the fluids and such. I’ll carry along with me some oil, ATF and coolant and maybe some duct tape lol.

The car has the parasitic battery drain issue, and they’ve had a Killswitch on the negative battery terminal for a number of years. This is why my sister just doesn’t want to deal with it anymore. I’m certainly not new to Home auto repair. I do all my work on all my vehicles and we have a 05 sienna I just did a whole bunch of work on and I think that actually is a very similar motor?

Well, that’s it for now. Perhaps I’ll give an update from the road or check back in when we get her to her new home in Madison Wisconsin. Any advice!!??
Matt

My favorite color. Needs the center hubs. Did some one shave the spoiler at the back?

Have the electrical drain saved. It needs diagnosis but driver side door switch circuitry would be my suspect.
