Starts with sudden slippage (got: R, 1, sometimes 2)
Started two weeks ago, sudden slippage out driving a couple of times and then it was fine rest of the way home. Although I got a p0770.
Day after, I changed the transfluid, just drain & fill.
It was fine that day, next day it started slipping, and jerking with changing gears.
Now it slippes bad enough not to fully engange second gear, and when it does it slippes and jerks.
Did a scan with a aftermarket-tablet. However it did not find anything. (I erased the p0770 right after changing fluids.)
So, what are my alternatives?
Far as I figure:
A) Test according to: https://www.transmissiondigest.com/toyota-u140-u240-series-diagnostic-information/
B) Getting a used gearbox.
C) Bit scared that its the torque-converter, as these seems not that many for sale, and if they are...
Other ideas?
Thanks!

My suggestion is first to get a competent mechanic test and diagnose the problem and in the mean time establish a realistic value of your RX if there is nothing wrong and another in present condition.
When the diagnosis comes back, do rational $ and sense analysis.
This model is now almost 25 yrs old. Nothing lasts for ever and even a well maintained vehicle has a drop off point [you are in the best position to determine that]. Weigh that against the exorbitant price of new and high cost of used.

Fortitude: Amsoil Signature Series Multi-Vehicle Synthetic ATF
Salim: I'm thinking in terms of.. rather than putting cash in a "new for me vehicle". I'm more inclined to put cash into this one, and be somewhat certain that it will run for atleast 300000km. With comfort and safety.
So, I'm going to buy a used transmission, order sonnax zip kit and a rebuild kit.
I'm going test this as well.
Appreciate the reply's very much!

Sounds like a plan.
DIY or do you plan to farm out the job. If you plan to farm out, my sincere suggestion is let the shop acquire the used transmission and provide you the warranty. Or better still ask them to diagnose the problem first ... you just might be pleasantly surprised.
Generally I have seen the suggestion of doing a drain and fill, but if you are not an expert to determine issues based on drained fluid, then at least store away the fluid for the trans-shop.

An update on this.
I am still driving with this cute thing. If I start with the "snow"-button enabled, it drives fine.
Without it, it slips for a bit and then jumps into next gear.
Driving with the "snow-button", I only have to watch out for the rpm's or it "clunks" into next gear.
I have only changed the transmission oil and filter ones since then. I have looked for a transmissionshop here in sweden, but it does not seem to me the easiest thing. So, I'll have to look around a bit more, since another car... not so likely unless the current one just b0rkes.

The snow mode just takes out the low gear [1st] as the start from stand still.
By you moderating the speed, you are controlling the shifting.
The problem will only get worse. So decide DIY or a shop.
I would urge getting professional help and use the things you are doing to get the vehicle to a shop.
